A special chant.....

For the past 5 weeks my regular evening yoga class took on a slightly different format to the previous sessions which had been a mix of flowing and slower vinyasa classes. Firstly I shifted it from a Tuesday night to a Wednesday and decided to offer up a bit more in-depth exploration

with a 6 week block focussing on learning about the Koshas. In Yoga these are layers, or sheaths and we have interconnected layers starting with the most obvious layer of the body and our physical being, moving through like peeling back the layers of an onion if you like to reveal what is there beneath and ultimately coming to BLISS, or the Bliss Body, the true self, the soul of pure joy. It's been a great few weeks so far, thanks to everyone who's been joining and been open minded to learning more and diving in to a bit more background of why we do what we do and the slightly more hidden benefits of yoga. In week 4 I introduced a lovely mantra for us, which is typically chanted at the start of a class or session and I thought I'd share that here with you too. It's a beautiful prayer or blessing, here's the words and 1 translation I found and also a really great video on youtube too, so that you can practice it in a call and response manner. Let me know what you think, it doesn't have to be perfect, don't worry about that to begin with, sanksrit is a beautiful thing but can be challenging to get absolutely perfect. Just try your best and practice. With love.

Om sahana vavatu - may we be protected together

saha viryam karavaavahai - may we create steadiness & strength among one another

tejasvi navadhitamastu - may our study be filled with brilliance & light

maa vidvishaavahai - may there be no hostility/misunderstanding between us
